Welcoming visitors to our Canberra College
L-R: Kadi Taylor (Navitas), Mathew Sebastian (Department of Finance), Jess Del Rio (DHA), Michael Cox (Navitas), Jetinder Macfarlane (Navitas), Ali Mond (DHA), and Lisa Tudehope (DHA).
Department of Home Affairs (DHA) officials visited the Navitas English Canberra campus on 29 August, following the recent transition of the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) from the Department of Education and Training (DET) to the DHA.
The team from the Department were introduced to staff and students, had a tour of the college and were given a first-hand insight into the Navitas English program delivery.
They attended two AMEP classes to observe the clients and trainers in the learning and teaching environment and to gain an insight into the experience of clients using digital technology as a core component of their learning. In the Pre-SWE class the clients were using different apps on iPads to complete vocabulary tasks including matching images to words, while in the other class, clients of the more advanced Levels 2 and 3 had a quiz using an app on Chromebooks.
The visit was a great opportunity to highlight the expertise and experience of our trainers, and the application of the latest technology in the classroom to our key AMEP stakeholders.
