Career Pathways Pilot for Humanitarian Entrants

The Careers Pathways Pilot (CPP) program is a new Australian Government initiative to help you to plan your career pathway in Australia. Navitas English Canberra delivers this program in the Australian Capital Territory region.

Who can join the CPP program?

This program is available for humanitarian entrants who:

  • have arrived in the past five years, or will arrive in Australia, through the Humanitarian program (visa subclasses 200, 201, 202, 203 or 204),
  • have sufficient English language proficiency in relation to your career pathway,
  • have professional or trade skills or qualifications,
  • are ready to find work in Australia.

This program is free* and you do not need to be unemployed to receive assistance.

What assistance is available?

Our experienced Employment Case Manager will work with you to:

  • plan your career pathway in Australia,
  • show you how to use your existing skills in the Australian workforce and how to get recognition of your qualifications,
  • access training to upskill or reskill so you can take advantage of employment opportunities in your local area, and
  • achieve your career goals.

Why join the CPP?

This service is free* for eligible humanitarian entrants. There is no time limit and you can access the service in flexible arrangements.

When you arrive in Australia, you may find it difficult to find a job suited to your skills and work experience. You may find that your professional or trade skills or qualifications are not formally recognised in Australia. You may find it difficult to show employers that you are capable of doing a particular job if you do not have an Australian certification of your qualifications.

Working in a job that matches your skills will help you to maintain your skills and your confidence. You may need to study or participate in work experience in Australia, to upskill, reskill or for your skills to be recognised. If it is not possible to work in the same job, you may need to consider a similar career where you can still use your skills.
