Former students come together for alumni event
Former and current students from Burwood and Campsie colleges came together last Wednesday evening for the first student alumni event.
The aim of the event was to bring former and current students together and assist those seeking advice on employment, training programs or further study. Guest speakers from Bright Hospitality, A Plus Realty and SkillNet attended the event to speak to students about the employment and study opportunities available to them. The Employment Pathways Unit also attended, providing useful advice on LinkedIn and job interviews.
Area Manager for Burwood and Campsie, Jeremy Lindeck said he was pleased to hear positive feedback following the event from students who both enjoyed being able to network and catch up with one another: “the event was a great opportunity for students to catch up, share experiences and tell each other about employment opportunities,” he said.
“Feedback shows everyone enjoyed the event and found the presentations useful. Hopefully, this will be the basis of an established alumni group,” he added.
One of the attendees commented that the event was a great opportunity to catch up with former classmates: “we met old classmates and discussed issues related to studies, jobs and life in general. It was amazing.”
