Childcare student gains casual employment following work placement

Wendy migrated to Australia from Vietnam five years ago. She recently completed the childcare course as part of the Settlement Language Pathways to Employment and Training (SLPET) program and was offered casual employment following her work placement. She is currently working part time while continuing with her childcare studies.

How learning English helped a student gain her self-confidence and employment

When Tara first arrived in Australia, she spoke little English and lacked self-confidence. However, since studying English in the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP), Tara has not only improved her English but she has also developed her self-confidence and gained full-time employment at a retirement village.
