There are many reasons to improve your English language skills. For example:
- to help you settle in Australia
- to help you make new friends and join in your community
- to improve your employment prospects
- to undertake further study
- to communicate in your day-to-day life.
We offer government-funded English programs at various levels for job seekers, migrants and humanitarian entrants.
For Migrants and Humanitarian Entrants:
The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) gives eligible clients up to 510 hours of free* English language lessons. The AMEP is a settlement English language program which aims to improve your language skills, so you are able to study and to manage social and work situations in English. You will cover practical topics including money, housing, work and transport, and an introduction to learning in Australia as well as language skills specific to your needs. Is this for me?
For Job seekers:
The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program provides eligible job seekers with up to 800 hours of free* accredited training. This training is aimed at improving clients’ access to successful employment and further education through the strengthening of language, literacy and numeracy skills. Is this for me?
These programs are funded by the Australian Government and delivered through the Navitas English Consortium partnerships.
If you are not eligible for these funded programs, please contact your nearest college for information on other study options.
