New skills: Samia Youkhanna, Ntalin Ochana and trainer Caterina Griffiths at the recent two-day barista course in Fairfield.

Students at Navitas English learnt new skills and raised money for drought-stricken farmers during their recent two-day barista course.

Members of the Fairfield Youth Skills for Education & Employment (SEE) class ran a pop-up coffee stall to showcase their skills in event planning, marketing, sales and communication.

The team smashed their original goal of $500 and raised $750 for the Buy a Bale campaign. This is in addition to the $650 raised by the Fair Food project at Navitas’ Cabramatta College.

Site Manager of the Fairfield college, Peter Norton said it was “fantastic” to not only see the students develop but to see the positive impact they can have on the community. The course was a collaboration with the LMA Thrive Youth Transition support program.
