The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program

Get the skills to succeed in Australia with our Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program, funded by the Australian government. The SEE program gives eligible individuals 650 hours of free* job-related training and aims to help you find work or apply for further training, by improving your skills in language, literacy, numeracy and using technology.

What you will learn with us

With the right training, you’ll have the confidence to apply for your ideal job. Our Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program works with you to meet the needs of future employers, and lets you:

  • prepare for job interviews
  • develop the skills needed to get a job
  • communicate in your new workplace
  • use digital technology for workplace tasks
  • work well by yourself and in a team
  • apply for jobs that match your skills
  • be confident when speaking and writing
  • use numbers correctly and manage financial transactions.

 

Our SEE program details

Whether you would like to get the language skills to match your ability and education, or you need a little more support with English to find the right job, our free* Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program is structured around you. An assessor will speak to you about your goals and place you in a class that offers you the best environment for success.

The SEE program gives you:

  • practical training that matches your needs and goals
  • the chance to learn skills for employment
  • full-time or part-time study
  • face-to-face training, plus the option to complete some of your training online
  • lessons based on 3 ability levels: initial, basic and advanced
  • the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised qualification
  • the possibility of extra training in specific vocations.

 With the SEE program you can study:

  • writing resumes, applying for jobs and going to job interviews
  • spoken and written workplace English
  • writing, numeracy and computer skills.

Are you eligible?

If you answer 'Yes' to the questions below, you can apply to enrol in the free* Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program with Navitas English:

  • are you between 15 and 64 years old?
  • are you registered as a job seeker with the Department of Human Services (DHS)?
  • are you able to devote enough time (you must not be in full-time studies)?
  • do you meet the rules on visa status and benefits?

How to enrol

To apply to enrol for our Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program, you will need to confirm that you meet the Australian Government’s eligibility criteria.

If you are eligible, your next steps are:

  • visit your local Centrelink office
  • if you have already been referred, visit your Employment Services Provider
  • the provider will make an appointment with Navitas English for an assessment
  • meet with our assessor who will discuss your goals and check your reading, writing and spoken communication skills
  • we will enrol you in the right class for your needs.

Eligibility

Find out if you are eligible.

Visit Centrelink

Visit your local Centrelink office or, if Centrelink has already placed you with an Employment Services Provider, visit your provider. 

Assessment

Your Employment Services Provider will make an appointment for an assessment at a Navitas English college.

Meet

Meet with a qualified assessor to discuss your employment and learning goals, as well as assess your reading, writing, numeracy and oral communication skills.

Enrol

You will be enrolled in the appropriate class.
